The STEAMigPOWER project, for migrants and refugees’ access to STEAM studies, is presented at the UB

The initiative will be announced in a seminar, in which two proposals from the University of Barcelona will also be explained to promote the access of migrants and refugees to university studies and the labor market.

The European project STEAMigPOWER (STEAM approaches at higher education for mIGrants, refugees and asylum seekers’ emPOWERment), of which the UB Solidarity Foundation is a partner, will be presented on Thursday, June 6, from 9:30 to 12:30, in the seminar “The role of the University in the inclusion of refugees and migrants”, which will be in hybrid mode: in person at the Mundet UB Campus and online through Zoom.

STEAMigPOWER articulates a strategy for access to formal education by migrants, refugees and asylum seekers through the STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics), with the aim of enabling them to achieve their academic and professionals aspirations, as well as to contribute to social and economic development.

The project will be announced in a seminar, in which we will also explain two UB initiatives to promote access of migrants and refugees to the university and the labor market:

  • Transition Course to university studies of the UB Refuge Program, which has opened the call for scholarships of the fifth edition for university students in a refugee situation (50% reserved for students from Palestine).

The aim of the seminar will be to share experiences, reflections and practices related to supporting refugees, which promote their inclusion and have education as their central axis.
