Support program for refugees and people from conflict areas

This program opens complementary and safe paths to the resettlement of refugees and people from conflict zones based on access to university education, but also based on social and work inclusion. Its main activity is the Transition course to university studies, which promotes the inclusion of these people in UB studies.

The Program also includes, depending on the case, academic guidance; assistance in paying tuition; training in Catalan and/or Spanish; accommodation; mentoring; legal advice; health insurance; psychosocial support; psychological assistance, and support in socio-labor insertion.

Social and educational intervention program in the northern area of the Nou Barris district of Barcelona

torre-baro-edifici-eucaliptusThis program organizes various social and educational activities with the aim of stimulating the cultural and associative life of the northern area of the Nou Barris district; for example, the urban garden maintenance course for people in a situation of homelessness or the social and community cooking course for young people with difficulties in joining the labor market.

The program also includes the management of the Eucaliptus building, with 22 social housing units, transferred to the University by the City Council of Barcelona, and aimed at members of the university community in a situation of social vulnerability and other people at risk of exclusion.

Prometeus Program

This program ensures that young people from Barcelona neighborhoods with a university population index lower than the city average can access university and pursue higher studies successfully, regardless of economic and social conditions.

The initiative came from the Associació Educativa Integral del Raval and the newspaper El Raval, together with the two public high schools in the neighborhood. The city’s public universities participate in the Prometeus motor group.
